What's Coming Next?
Now that Prison 917 has been unleashed to the world, a lot of people are asking me what is coming out next. The real answer is, I'm not sure. I have a few things that I'm working on, but nothing is set in stone just yet.
National Novel Writing Month is coming up in November, and the story I'm working on for that is going to be a full length novel. I already have some parts written and the plot is fully fleshed out, so hopefully all of that goes according to plan. The plan right now is for me to finish the entire novel in November, which, while I have written 50K words before, my novels are usually longer than that. We'll see what happens with this story. It has a lot of interesting characters, so I'm really excited to get started on it. I'm especially excited about writing LGBT+ characters, some of whom are disabled, in a fantasy setting, I think I'll be able to do a lot of cool things with that.
I have another story that I would say is about 80% written. It's something I've been working on and off with for about two years already. I'm never very good at summarizing novels, and this one has a lot of world building and research that goes into it. Hopefully, I can focus on that after NaNoWriMo and make some real progress on it.
The big question is, what about Prison 917, will there be a sequel? I realize that I did end that on a bit of a cliffhanger, which I'll admit, I am not a huge fan of as a reader or as a writer. But that's where the story stopped.
But I am working on a follow up to Prison 917. I do have some things written, and while I'm still trying to figure out exactly where the story is going, its absolutely being worked on. Though it will not be called Prison 918.
I have a lot of things I'm very excited about, a lot of work to do, and not enough hours in the day. I wish writing could be my full time gig, but it's not (yet), so these things take a lot of time. That being said, I'm hoping for a spring release of the follow up to Prison 917 and if a miracle happens, a full length novel being released late next summer. No promises, though.
